Primitive camping is allowed throughout the state forest, with the exception of:
Designated natural areas
Primitive camping does not include any amenities such as latrine facilities, grills or fire rings, or picnic tables.
Campers are required to obtain a camping permit (no charge).
Camping in groups of 10 or more requires a letter of authorization from the District Forester. Primitive backpack campers do not need a permit if they stay no more than one night at any campsite.
