Orienteering and Geocaching at Hickory Run State Park

Orienteering

The three permanent orienteering courses in the park are maintained by the Delaware Valley Orienteering Association.

The beginner (1.5 miles) and intermediate (3.4 miles) courses start in the Sand Spring Day Use Area, near the pavilion. An advanced course (2.5 miles) begins near the Saylorsville Dam.

The Hickory Run Orienteering Course Map (PDF) provides a detailed view of the course.

Geocaching

Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played using GPS. Information on geocaches hidden within the park can be found on the Geocaching webpage.

Brochures with information on educational geocaches placed by perk staff are available at the Visitor Center and online. Geocachers must leave no trace. Practice cache in and trash out whenever possible.

The Hidden Gems Geocache Series (PDF) features places that are off the beaten path for most visitors.

The Boulder Field GPS Tour (PDF) provides a behind-the-scenes look of this landscape that time forgot.
