ECO CAMP PROGRAM
Exploring Careers Outdoors (ECO) Camp is a week-long residential camp for high school youth from across Pennsylvania.
Youth are given the opportunity to participate in action-packed, hands-on activities, and recreational adventures in Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests that expose them to careers in conservation, recreation, and natural resources.
ECO Camp is facilitated by DCNR.
ABOUT THE ECO CAMP PROGRAM
ECO Camp is conducted during the second full week of July.
Based out of the Kirby House near White Haven in northeastern Pennsylvania, campers will explore local state parks and forests throughout the week.
Professional staff from DCNR’s bureaus of State Parks, Forestry, and Topographic and Geologic Survey act as counselors and educators and interact with campers daily.

APPLYING FOR THE ECO CAMP PROGRAM
To apply for ECO Camp (PDF), high school students must:for ECO Camp, high school students must:
Be entering grades 10, 11, or 12
Have an overall grade of a C average or better
Students are selected by a committee based on their application, essay, and recommendation.
Students attend free of charge. ECO Camp is funded by DCNR and implemented by professional DCNR staff.
AFTER PARTICIPATION IN ECO CAMP
ECO Camp graduates select a mentor from ECO Camp’s DCNR professional staff. The mentor program allows graduates to further connect with DCNR professionals, receive guidance about careers paths, as well as participate in development opportunities through job shadowing, volunteering, or internships.
